United Hmong Association (UHA) is a non-profit, 501(C)3, organization. Our mission is to
improve the quality of life for the Hmong of North Carolina. We are dedicated to ensure
successful acculturation and integration of the Hmong into American society without sacrificing
our cultural heritage, language and identity. We promote education, cultural preservation,
self-sufficiency, economic development, social advancement and justice, understanding and
respect, peace and harmony, and race relations. UHA was founded in 1994 by concerned
Hmong leaders to represent and serve the Hmong community of North Carolina. A decade later,
UHA has become the foundation of the Hmong society of North Carolina. Each Hmong clan is
represented in the Board of Directors of the Association. The president is elected by the
members of the Association and Hmong clan representatives. UHA is managed by professional
staff members and governed by a Board of Directors. It is supported by the Hmong Clan Leaders
and advised by a Professional Advisory Board and a Community Advisory Board.
We work diligently toward achieving our vision of having an economically self-sufficient,
prosperous, peaceful, harmonious, and cohesive community that enhances the quality of life for
the Hmong families of North Carolina. Everyone has a role in UHA and in our quest to achieve
our mission.

All people of Hmong descent living in the State of North Carolina are eligible for membership.
Even though UHA is originally established to serve the Hmong community, membership to UHA
is open to anyone who shares our vision and supports our mission. We offer a wide range of
benefits to our members. Please support UHA by joining today. Your membership will help UHA
to grow stronger and be able to serve you better.
